Visa Conditions [Update March 2023]

What are Visa Conditions?

If you’ve been granted a visa for Australia then it will usually be accompanied by conditions.  A list of the visa conditions can be found in Schedule 8 of the Migration Act. I have listed these conditions which are typically a four-digit number starting with the numeral 8.

How to check?

Australia Immigration Department has created a system called the Visa Entitlement Verification Online system (VEVO). It allows visa holders, employers and other organisations to check these conditions. You can click the link here to do a VEVO check now or by accessing the link in the email you received.

VEVO can only provide information for people who have their details available in the immigration systems. Please note, if you migrated to Australia before 1990 and have not since travelled out of Australia, you will not be able to find your information on the VEVO system. Also, the VEVO check is not available for Australian citizens.

Please note that failure to comply with a condition stipulated in your visa may set you up for a visa cancellation under section 116 of the Migration Act. This has some pretty severe consequences. Please make sure you understand the conditions that apply to you and that you comply with those conditions.
