Overview

For some Australian visa applications, particularly for secondary applicants, you may only need to demonstrate what is known as 'Functional English'. This is a lower level of English proficiency compared to the requirements for primary applicants in skilled migration visas. I can help you understand the requirements for Functional English and the different ways you can provide evidence of your ability.

Functional English can be demonstrated in several ways, not just through a formal English language test. For example, you may be able to provide evidence of completing your secondary or tertiary education in English, or evidence of working in an English-speaking environment. I will assess your individual circumstances and advise you on the most straightforward way to meet the Functional English requirement.

If you do need to take an English test to prove Functional English, the required scores are much lower than for other English language levels. For example, an average band score of 4.5 in the IELTS is generally sufficient. I will provide you with clear information on the required scores for all accepted English tests, so you know exactly what you need to aim for.

My role is to simplify the process of demonstrating Functional English. I will help you gather the necessary evidence, whether it is from your educational background or a formal test, and ensure it is correctly presented in your visa application. My goal is to make this part of your application as stress-free as possible.
