  1. Hi,

I am currently on a 491 visa. I am after some advice on completing a travel exemption application please to enter Australia from a trip overseas. I believe if my occupation is on the priority list and/or I work in a critical industry, I might be able to obtain an exemption. I am a permanent full time employee in a finance occupation in the retail health food and food manufacturing industry.

I would also seeing my family based overseas for the first time in 3 years who includes my elderly parents and wanting to attend a family member’s wedding.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Nilesh

In relation to your information below can you further clarify? Yes temp residents can exit Australia but if they wish to return then they need to apply for an exemption in the first place to leave.

“If you neither have Australian citizenship nor hold a permanent residence visa for Australia (you are present in Australia as a temporary resident or without any visa at all), then there should be no difficulty for you simply to go to the airport to exit Australia. No travel exemption should be required for you”

My hubby is a foreigner but is here waiting for a partner application to process therefore it makes him a temporary resident. If he wants to go back to his home country he still needs to apply for an exemption if he wishes to return. Coming back in should not be a problem as he would be classed as my immediate family. Why do they make temp visa holders apply for an exemption? I can not see the reasoning in it.

  3. We are looking to apply for a travel exemption to leave australia. We want to relocate to Romania as my husband needs to take care of his ill and elderly father. We are currently selling all our assets to have financial means of supporting ourselves while there. We are located in perth. Is this something you could help us with?

  4. Hello Nilesh,

My situation is that my dad got really bad and now he is in the intensive care unit. I got the doctor document to prove exemption. But my concern is if i will be able to come back by January.

    Kind regards

  5. Hi Nilesh, I am an immediate family member of an Australian citizen, and I am on a 820 visa (provisional partner visa). On the Australian government website it says that I don’t need to apply for a travel exemption to enter Australia. At the same time, being this a temporary visa, I believe I would also not need to apply for an exemption to leave. This is not crystal clear, are you able to confirm if I am indeed able to leave and return without having to apply for a travel exemption? Thank you in advance for your answer.
