Whether you're applying for citizenship at 60 years and over, or if you are a 16-year-old or 17-year-old seeking to understand your eligibility, we’re here to assist. Our goal is to provide clear guidance and support tailored to these specific situations, ensuring a smoother application process for everyone involved.

Eligibility

You should use this form if you:

• Are aged 60 or over and need to show you understand the nature of your application,
• Have a permanent or enduring physical or mental incapacity that prevents you from sitting the Australian citizenship test, or
• Experience a permanent loss or substantial impairment of hearing, speech, or sight that makes it impossible for you to sit the Australian citizenship test.

For those in any of these categories, you must:

• Be a permanent resident,
• Satisfy the residence requirement, and
• Be likely to reside in Australia or maintain a close and continuing association with Australia.

If you are 16 or 17 years old:

• You must be a permanent resident both when applying and when a decision is made.
• Understand the nature of your application.
• Have a basic knowledge of English.
• Demonstrate an adequate understanding of the responsibilities and privileges of Australian citizenship at the time of decision.

For those under 16 years of age:

• You must also be a permanent resident when applying and when a decision is made.
• Live with a responsible parent who is either an Australian citizen or, if not a citizen, a parent who prevents significant hardship or disadvantage.
• Your responsible parent must sign the application form.
