Instrument Fitter
Assembling, calibrating, installing and overhauling mechanical precision instruments and equipment.
4115-11 Precision Instrument Maker and Repairer Skill Level:
An AQF Certificate III or higher qualification is required.
4115-11 Precision Instrument Maker and Repairer Tasks Include:
- fitting and assembling instrument parts and sub-assemblies such as springs, valves, plates, bearings, lenses and glass faces
- calibrating instruments using standard weights and measures, jigs and fixtures and hand tools to adjust and align parts and small balancing weights
- installing industrial instruments and equipment such as control panels, meters and fixed cameras
- overhauling instruments and equipment
- dismantling instruments, and repairing or replacing defective parts
- monitoring performance using testing and measuring instruments, and making adjustments
- recording action taken
